Visiting Speaker

We had a visiting speaker arranged, Alison Wiloughby. 

These are some examples of her work. Alison was really interesting in telling us her story from qualifying to her experiences in free lance since. It was inspiring but it isn't a route i want to take when i qualify, i would like to gain experience and confidence within a company first.

New work completed

I have being trying to spend as much time as i can to increase my collections. I am although such a slow worker which makes it really frustrating, but so long as i am happy with it when completed every minute will be worth it.

 

Being Aware Of the Market Place

Today i have went to Asda and casually looked through some of the magazines such as Elle Decoration  to find companies that are already out their using the techniques that i would like to use for my final degree show and seeing how they apply them in colour, placement and organisation. Below is some that i found.

As i am interested in Wallpaper design i looked at Anthrapolog. These wallpapers are very illustrative which i really like but still highlight detail and sections of colour.

When i went to London I visited the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre i came across Harlequin in their and loved their products. Above are some samples of their wallpapers, they are so exciting and flamboyant. 

Play Day

Today, me and Laura Potter decided that we are going to have a play day on Friday to try new techniques with dyes and collage. This is to try bring out a different style in our work to show a variety of skills. We prepared and stretched paper on boards ready to use. Im really looking forward to it.

Research Into Illustration

I am going to research into illustration artist/designers to give me some ideas into a different application and style of drawing. My work is very accurate and detailed and by applying a stye like illustration will show that i can use other ways.

Karolin Schnoor

I really liked her work, i found it whilst searching on Print Pattern Blogspot. I will try and use her approach in my own work and see what results i get.

I really Liked Susan Black's designs, i love how it looks illustrated but but still has detailing and solid colours.
