The Final Degree Show

It has been the most difficult few weeks of my life, i have devoted all my time and efforts into finishing my final products, ensuring all my paper designs are printed and that i have the correct materials that i wanted to display my show. I was definately feeling the pressure as all the other students shows were going up and i was still coving my giftware boxes. However the final day came which the preview evening was on and i had managed to complete everything and was able to put the show up that day.

I was really looking forward for the time to pass for the preview to start so i could show my friends and family my show.

As the show started lots of people arrived, it was a fantastic atmosphere. I was able to meet lots of friendly people who all had excellent comments about my work. Hearing the comments was really satisfying as the hard work and dedication is made to feel worthy and proud.

I am not going to show you pictures just yet as i am exhibiting at New Designers in London and want to keep my display a surprise.

I am now anxious to receive my assessment marks for the last modules and also my degree classification. However i am now really excited to start the new chapter in my life, starting with work placements and New Designers hopefully leading to a successful career.

I have been working hard to create my final gift wrap designs, so far i have completed four which are final. These are shown below. I am now going to concentrate on designing my gift boxes and bags. I would like to try to have another two gift wrap designs but it depend on how i am for time as the deadline for assessment is next week.

Ways Of Displaying My Show

Whilst searching ways in which Hermes display there scarves, they give leaflets away when you purchase a scarf on how to tie it, i have been able to see these as people post them online. I have been  trying to find a way i like to finalise my decision on how to display my final scarves in my show.

I loved how this scarf had been tied, the knot is lovely. However i would need to source a upper body mannequin to do this.

This is an exhibition stand at New Designers, I liked how the scarves had been hung off the wall and a few were hung with a embroidery hoop.

Apologies for the blurry picture but it was the only one and I really liked how the scarves towards the left were hung off set from the wall overlapping one another. This reminds me from when I previously seen the Hermes scarves displayed in frames like artwork but a bit quirkier.

These are some images that show me ideas in which other people have interpreted their products into a show.

I have decided that I want to go with the look of displaying my scarf designs or images that i have used to create the scarf designs in a perspex frame like the image above with the printed scarf draped below it. I will do this with three but the other three i have yet to decide how to display them. I did however visit Bents Garden Centre in which I seen a display by Joules where i like how the scarf had been displayed off the hanger. This could be nice to do with the remaining three scarves that wont be displayed with the perspex.

Gift Bags

I wanted to see how different gift bags display pattern considering the placement, colour and layout.
They are repetitive in pattern, but it is understanding how to construct the pattern so that it isn't overpowering. These gift bags are a selection from Marks & Spencer.

I am aiming to make my giftware products fit to this market level. I need to ensure when constructing designs and making the products they fit to the higher standards.
