Hallmark Competition Continued

With a good collection of drawing and paintings, i was able to create quite a lot of designs to be used as gift wares. I displayed my work as collections on boards showing the relationships are similar but slightly different.

Here are my Final Designs which I showed To Hallmark. I am also pleased to say that i did win placement with Hallmark, meaning i get to spend two week with them in their design studios. Although being in third year now and not wanting to take that much time away from my work, i am going to go next year in when i have completed my Degree. I am really excited and can't wait to go!

These are my design collections showing examples of gift wrap, gift bags and cards.

I really wanted to advance my designs from paper into actual products, so i decided to give it ago and produce them.

Hallmark Competition

As part of our second year semester module it was to complete a working collection of gift wares including cards, gift wrap, gift tags, stationary etc.. I chose to work with the theme Botanical Blooms. From this point i wanted to collect as much research as possible to support my inspirations. I visited London National History Museum, they hold a Botany collection in an archive, i also went to Liverpool World museum who also hold a Botany collection and i used journals like blooms magazine. Having collected my research i felt it was time to start drawing and painting. I wanted to create as many worksheets as possible to use in my design work for the collections of gift wares i were to create. I really wanted to gain the opportunity of been seen and picked for placement by hallmarks design team who were to come at the end of the module for us to present our collections to them explaining our ideas and inspirations to them.

These are example of some of my worksheets

Handbag Design Competition Clarks 2011

Whilst working at my part time job (Clarks) a newsletter came to store advertising a Handbag Design Competition. My face lit up with excitement. The winning entry for the competition would have the opportunity to work with the Handbag Range Manager and a Supplier to go through the procedures of seeing your entry on paper to being actually made! I had to send my design of along with a mood/presentation board reflecting the potential consumer and my inspirations. Finally i heard back, as i had a call from the regional director congratulating me as my entry had won. :) It was then confirmed that i was to go to london to meet with the Handbag Range Manager and Supplier to discuss materials and components etc.. for the bag to be made. I was overjoyed, It was a fabulous experience, having the chance to see the real world of design and seeing a glimps of how it works. Also i have built up a good relationship with the Handbag Range Manager, who has offered me to go for work Placement. What a great start.
